After the most fabulous couple of years at Your Radio it's now time for me to bow out. This decision was not taken lightly nor was it one that I ever thought I'd have to make. I leave this excellent local radio station with nothing but great memories and kind words for all those involved in keeping this vital local service "On the Air"
My thanks to all the wonderful people whom I got to spend the last 2 years with, yes 2 years!!, that time just flew past. I wish all at Your Radio the best of times for the journey ahead. What I will miss most off all is the loyal listeners that the radio station has, in particular those who contacted me daily on The Top 10 at 10 chart countdown. Everyday I was overwhelmed with the response to the programme, it was truly the best hour of my day - Thank you!

Derek has been in the radio business for decades now and presented all manner of programmes on a variety of radio stations. Best known for his "McIntyre In The Morning" Breakfast shows on QFM, Clan FM, YourRadio, L107FM and others, Derek said "I've had the privilege over the years of waking up listeners across West Central Scotland, Paisley, Lanarkshire, Dumbarton, Clydebank, Inverclyde and Argyll and Bute but had to sideline the show due to working on the late night TV programme. I did think of returning to radio after the TV show came to an end but by that time the radio industry's landscape had completely changed so it seemed like a good time to stop." But........

"A lot has changed since I was On Air here last, the studios have moved location, twice, and now the radio station is settling into its brand new offices, its an exciting time for the place. Also the radio station has new owners who are keen to stamp their mark on things with some fresh ideas."
The radio station now not only has an increased coverage area, due to a boost of power on FM, but it also has a foothold in the new growing DAB digital market too joining other stations broadcasting on the new Glasgow city transmitters. "Overall a much larger audience than when I was last On Air here."
On a side note, Derek has now worked for every company that has ever owned Your Radio since it first launched. Or, as Derek put it, he has been successfully sacked by every company that has ever owned it! How long will he last this time.......

Nation Radio Broadcasting have added Your Radio to it's list of commercial radio stations in the U.K. As part of this acquisition McIntyre In the Morning returns to Your Radio each weekday morning from 6am.
